Vidhya Maharjan of Kathmandu got into the record books, being the only player to win five gold medals in a single tournament. She claimed her fifth gold medal in the Ninth National WushuChampionship in taulo on Sunday.
In the men’s category, Bishal Thapa of Kathmandu triumphed, while Sunny Shrestha of Armed Police Force (APF) and Ananta Rai of Lalitpur finished second and third respectively.
In the men’s kun suma event, Rinji Sherpa of Dolakha came first, while Niranjan Ale of Lalitpur and Bishwo Budha Magar of Rukum came second and third respectively.
In the championship held at the covered hall of Dashrath Stadium, South Asian Games (SAG) gold medallist Ang Babu Lama prevailed in the men’s Thaichi, while Susmita Tamang of Bhaktapur won in the women’s category.
Likewise, SAG gold medallist Binita Maharjan also won a gold in women’s thaichi chhwan.
Shankar Khand of Kaski progressed into the final of men’s 60 kg sanshou. Chahana Lama of APF and Jharana Gurung of Kaski booked their spot in women’s 60 and 65kg finals respectively.
The championship will conclude on Monday.
